Dipl.-Ing. (arch) Manuel Kretzer is a researcher and tutor at the Chair for Computer Aided Architectural Design (www.caad.arch.ethz.ch), ETH Zurich where he is responsible for coordinating and leading the digital design and production modules of the postgraduate Master of Advanced Studies class. His research aims at the notion of a soft and dynamic architecture with a specific focus on new (smart) material performance and how these materials affect the way we perceive and design space. Recent projects include ShapeShift, Material Animation, Actuated Matter and Phototropia (www.vimeo.com/materiability).

He is also a partner at Responsive Design Studio
(www.responsivedesign.de), which is based in Zurich and Cologne.
